For our fifth and final project, my partner and I made a DIY Lemon Sugar Hand Scrub, which helps to fade scars, and to brighten and exfoliate your skin. It is also very simple to make and you only need three ingredients that you can easily find in your kitchen cupboard and fridge! What you will need to make this hand scrub is granulated sugar, extra virgin olive oil, and last but not least, lemon juice(fresh or pre-bottled). You will also need to find a small bottle that has a lid, so it can hold your lemon hand scrub. First off, you will need to pour 3/4 of a cup of granulated sugar into your container. Secondly, pour in 1/4 of a cup of the extra virgin olive oil in and lastly, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. After all of that, you will need to combine the ingredients with a spoon, and you're done. To use the scrub, scoop out a spoonful of the mixture, massage into your hands over a sink and rinse off. Once you dry your hands they will be left silky and moisturized.

These DIY projects opened my eyes to new ideas. I find myself looking at things that I don't need in a different perspective. Finding ways to reuse the items in creative and useful ways that I will surely be proud of.

For the past month and the present month, I have made two more DIY projects with my partner Jamie. We made Ombre Nails for November, and Christmas Snowflake Gel window clings for December(obviously). We have gotten better at making DIY projects with the practice that we are getting from this project. We learned how to bounce ideas and techniques off of each other to make the DIY’s better. I think our partnership is good because we get our projects done on time. For the

For the Ombre Nails, we first had to decide one two nail polish colours that complement each other(you also need a good clear top coat polish). Then we had to find a little sponge to create the gradient texture that we needed to achieve. First, you paint your nails with the lightest of the two colours and wait for them to dry completely. Then, on a flat surface, paint a generous amount of the colours right next to each other on to the plastic. Make sure they're just about touching at the edges. Using a toothpick, swirl the two colours together where they meet. The area where they mix will determine the length of the graduation. So if you want a long graduation, mix a bigger section of the colours, if you want less of a fade, just mix them together a tiny bit. Take your sponge and dab it directly down on to the polish a few times. Dab the sponge directly down on to your nail. Keep dabbing lightly and moving it very slightly up and down your nail. You can repeat this step as many times as you need to. Just make sure each layer is completely dry before sponging again otherwise you will start smudging the underneath layers and ruin the whole thing. Add a topcoat to add shine and you’re done, but first remove the excess nail polish from around your nails with a Q-tip dipped in nail polish. For the Gel window clings, you need wax paper, printed out snowflakes, and puffy paint. First you place the printout under the wax paper, then you trace your design with the puffy paint. You then wait for the puffy paint to dry completely, then you carefully peel them off the wax paper and they are ready to be stuck on your window!

My partner and I have made two projects so far-one for each month that has passed by. We made a wall decoration for one of our bedrooms which is made out of paper towel rolls cut up into little slits, which when you put five together, makes a flower. We then glued those five pieces together, and spray painted them black, so the decoration stands out on the wall. We also made a DIY 'Fireflies in a jar' Night Lantern. We first had to find two identical jars, and when we did that, we bought glow sticks, and diamond glitter. Secondly, we cut open the glow sticks and poured the contents into the open jar, and then added the glitter, closed the lid, and shook the lid to coat the whole inside of the jar with glitter and the glow stick liquid. Once we were done, we turned off the lights and Voila! They looked really pretty glowing in the dark.

I think that we were very successful with both of our projects so far. We worked hard in finding ideas, and we followed through by making them. We are not really concerned with how our future projects will turn out, because we know that we can trust eachother and get out work done. One of sources that we used was YouTube, especially MacBarbie07's videos-http://www.youtube.com/user/Macbarbie07/videos- because we got so many ideas from her that we are going to use for our future projects. She is really inspiring. I hope my partner and i dont have any disputes over anything, but I am sure that we won't

For my Genius Hour project, I chose to do DIY (Do It Yourself) projects. I chose to be with a partner, since we had a choice, who is Jamie. So far, we are doing well with all of our research. We have found many easy and fun projects that we could do. In the beginning, we were kind of wavering between topics, and we got uninterested with the topic that we chose. We wanted to switch topics from DIY to baking/Cooking. Then Ms. Bertrand talked us out of changing our topic. We are now fully confident in the topic that we chose. I learned that you can make things out of little things around the house that you don’t use anymore.

The greatest resource that we have used so far was the internet, because you can’t really find books on DIY projects. We used many websites to find ideas for what we were going to make. One website was; www.buzzfeed/peggy/31-insanely-and-clever-diy-projects. The time that we have to complete this project is until January. This is a very long time, so I would think that we should be done our Genius Hour project by then. I am very happy with my partner, because i know that she works hard and won't just make me do the project by myself. Thats my first reflection for you!

I would think so, because I had way more opportunities to be creative in Elementary School. We would actually have free time to do things our own way, and not have an outline on what to exactly do. I do not think it is fair for high school students when their teachers give them a piece of paper that tells you exactly what you have to do and not being able to put your own creative touch into it. I am pretty sure that everyone likes doing things their own way. I do not agree with the fact that you have to follow what a piece of paper says. Sometimes i think it is the teachers that kill the creativity. You know those teachers, the ones that will not let you have any fun in class. And it really sucks, because having fun is a part of being creativity. Art class is a good example of a class where you have to be very creative, at all times. You make things your own way, and the teacher cannot say anything. Because art is supposed to be about creativity. My teacher for art class last year was Miss.LaRocque, she was the most fun and creative teacher that I have ever had. A suggestion I have for the teachers is to let the students be free and to express themselves through creativity. That is my opinion on how schools kill creativity(Sorry, i kinda rushed this paragraph today in class, please don't mind the poor quality).

Hey, my name is Jessica, as you may know, hence the name of this blog is 'Jessica's Planning Blog'. I am 15 years old, and I currently go to LA Matheson Secondary School. When i graduate, I hope to go on to be a Forensic Scientist, or a Police Officer. I love to play sports, such as Volleyball, and Basketball. My hobbies include, reading books(I prefer Mysteries), drawing, painting, and listening to music. Although, i used to take dance classes when i was little, I can't dance. I wish i could, but sadly, i cant. I love to hang out with my friends, and talk about everything that's on our minds. Oh, and i absolutely love watching scary movies! They need to be really scary, otherwise, i won't enjoy it as much. I also like superhero movies, such as, 'Captain America', 'Iron Man', and 'The Avengers'. I'm very attached to my phone, so if i don't have it for one day, I'll feel very deprived, because all my music that i listen to daily is on my phone. So the point of that sentence was that I can't live without my phone. I hope you didn't get too bored reading this paragraph, it took me so long to write. I tried my best to explain myself in less than twenty sentences, that's all everyone! :)
